Bombay Sapphire unveils edible paint for use in gin and tonics

Bacardi-owned Bombay Sapphire has released an edible paint which is used to flavour gin and tonics and colour glasses.

Developed in partnership with bartender Rich Woods of London bar Duck & Waffle, the Paint Collection has been created to allow bars to experiment with creative new flavours. Bacardi said the flavoured paint “is set to transform” the way gin and tonic is served.

As ice, Bombay Sapphire Gin and tonic blend together, a stripe of paint on the inside of the glass is said to slowly infuse flavour and a hint of colour into the beverage.

Renaud de Bosredon, Bombay Sapphire UK brand ambassador, said; “We’re super excited to launch the Bombay Sapphire Paint Collection and bring it to gin lovers across the country. We want people to have fun and be creative with the way they enjoy this iconic serve.

“Each essence has been carefully designed to complement our botanicals, showcasing the perfectly balanced flavour profile of Bombay Sapphire, and providing the ideal canvas for creative cocktails.”

Bombay Sapphire has collaborated with five UK bars – Duck & Waffle, Mr Fogg’s House of Botanicals (London), Scout (London), Panda and Sons (Edinburgh) and Tariff & Dale (Manchester) – which have each launched a limited-edition gin and tonic which is enhanced with the paint.

The paint is expected to roll out to over 150 bars across the UK in the coming months.
